Over the course of two very fast days I suddenly was inspired to start writing music again that could be organized into something. For a number of years I've taken the Eno approach of writing fairly constantly, the difference being I never save anything. Ever.
So now I'm going to begin saving things. I'm starting out by recording myself playing our family's 1890 Steinway upright piano, just doing a lot of one-take melodies, chord progressions, but keeping them intact and using them as source for other music to be added. Just like real composing. Like I used to do. But there is a grander plan to this.
I'm giving myself a full year and wrapping this project 31 December 2026. I have a time limit on what and how much I can produce as I'll be going through cancer surgery at the end of February. Between now and then I plan to write 2-4 pieces of music in preparation for consistently making short albums of 3-6 pieces of music each. As I recover from the surgery I'll slowly be able to actually sit up and do things, probably about 2 months. These will be pieced together as short albums as pieces of music seem to stick to each other over time. Each of these short albums will become a Bandcamp age to be distributed and streamed there.
I'm hoping to work with a long-time friend of mine who is a mastering engineer. Keeping my fingers crossed he'll be willing.
